Los Angeles is a beautiful place to live year round, and the summer months may be the best of all. If you’re looking for fun events to enjoy, try some of these popular activities:
Shakespeare in the Park: Have you been looking forward to another year of the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival? Celebrate their 15th anniversary with 10 weeks of celebration, surprises, and performances. The two plays this year are A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Titus Andronicus. Performances are Wednesdays through Sundays at 7:00 pm at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park. The concessions tent serves hot and cold drinks, light snacks, and bakery goods including The Bard of Shortbread cookies baked at Habey’s Kitchen in New York, especially for the Independent Shakespeare Company. ICS is a group of actors sharing a passion for classical work and a mission to provide free and low cost performing arts. (June 30 to September 3, 2018; Griffith Park).
Pirate Invasion of Long Beach: Pirates be coming to Long Beach again this summer. This year’s event is the biggest yet, expecting 50,000 guests over 2 days. Enjoy pirates in costume, sword fights, food and grog, art and craft vendors, a costume contest, a kids’ zone, and live and DJ entertainment at Shoreline Aquatic Park. They’re adding a Mermaid themed village this year, along with a live production of Treasure Island. (June 30 and July 1, 2018; Shoreline Aquatic Park behind the Long Beach Aquarium).
