Oven Won’t Heat? Try These Tips Before Calling For Repair

If your oven is no longer producing any heat, then you have a problem. However, while there will be a time for troubleshooting and replacement, there are a few tricks that can fix the issue. Sometimes, an oven problem doesn’t always mean that a part needs immediate replacement. Before calling for repair, you should give these quick tips a try to see if it fixes the issue.

Unplugging It / Disconnecting Power

If you unplug your oven and let it sit for about ten minutes, the appliance will perform a sort of reset. Appliances these days are more computer than anything else, and sometimes they just need a little reboot. If you have an electric oven, as opposed to a gas oven, this has a good shot of fixing non-heating issues.

Make Sure The Special Keys Are Not Activated

Ovens come with several modes. Cleaning modes, child lock modes, and even demo modes for when they are in the store. Typically, when any of these special modes are activated, even accidentally, they will have some indicator on the display. However, if you don’t notice it, it can lead to non-heating as well. In order to get out of these special functions, you will want to consult your owner’s manual. If you have misplaced it, then you can look up a copy online using the model number on your appliance.

Check For Utility Connections

It seems pretty obvious, but you will want to make sure that your oven is still connected to its utility. Is the gas on? Is the electricity on? It is not just to the whole house, but to the appliance as well. Be sure to check the circuit breaker to the appliance as well. A good indicator of loss of utility is that the display doesn’t show anything as well as the rest of the appliance doesn’t work.
